Welcome to "Shabad Ambrosia". My name is Anoop Babra & I love to write. Check My Story...
One-page writing was the literary ritual of our family. Cursive hand writing was one of skills that students were
required to learn, not to mention it was considered “trendy” in the provincially funded school for girls that I attended.
The desire to develop beautiful, smooth cursive writing skills was initially to shine in competitions and overtime flowed into a passionate freedom of expression.
Shabad Ambrosia’s integration into the multi-cultural global community has an important role to play- I challenge myself and encourage my readers, students and community alike to become caring and knowledgeable life-long learners and to enquire and take action to create a better world. I challenge myself to create high expectations defined by reader/learner outcomes and facilitate exemplary and engaging programmes via my website and continuously improve them.
I grew up admiring my father’s hunger to learn and nurture his intellect whether it be through the daily newspaper, Reader’s Digest, the then popular monthly Soviet Union, Illustrated Weekly, and the books of classic international novelists, such as Leo Tolstoy, Maxim Gorky, Herman Melville, Frederick Douglass, William Shakespeare, Salman Rushdie, Rabindranath Tagore and many more.
I cannot even recall the number of crossword puzzle contest prizes he won just for the sake of it; he was a genius when it came to The Tribune’s regular “Caption” contests.
Such was the culture back home, a gadget-free time, where every parent’s dreadful word peaks its head too many times a day “I’m bored”. But what a carefree time it was where all I had to rely on was the original “app”, my imagination. These moments allowed me to examine, discover, and set out on fantasy adventures that increased my awareness and allowed me to cognitively develop and flourish. It is during that borderline boredom I started to develop some flair for creativity.
Once I left the comforts of my family home, the experiences of life began to provide me not only with liberation, but with the courage and confidence to trust my instincts. When life becomes an uphill battle, my love for writing not only becomes my sanctuary, but a lifeline. By sharing blissful and fateful life events, I become unhindered and am able to present myself as transparent, porous, and vulnerable. On these occasions, I absolutely have no control over my fingers and pen to that piece of paper; it breathes most the vitality into a life like mine and for that I am so grateful. My once ordinary or destructive encounters all of a sudden become extraordinary and bearable when I take my time to build life like fictional castles with floors of narrative justifications and doors of opportunities.
Through the adaptation of regular writing, editing, and reviewing of my work, this one-page write ups have now been transformed into an “anecdotist’s haven”!
