“My Last Rites”
July 11, 2016

my days are numbered

few more springs to live…

I look forward passionately

the victorious sighs of exhilaration

that my extremities finally breathe

as I savour my dying process-

my share of much awaited light

synchronizes me away in a hollow,

speeding along a timeless zone

and bursts of glistening silvers

pull my weightless soul to milkyway…

perilous voice of unfulfilled love

sings an unfinished prophecy of pain…

why tries to startle me in vain?

breaking silence of my pyre

too late to wake me up, oh please

bestow upon me dear God

one last human blessing,

fan the fire of indifference once more

let me burn, now set me free…

I rehearsed enough through this life

celebration of my last rites…

trivial ceremonies of hardcore rituals

beside weeping willows n’ unnoticed oaks…

crackling megapixels of colourful flames

my funeral fire at its brilliance’ best,

five elements of my being

merrily returning to the source

my cool grey ashes waited upon

to be mingled in a sacred stream

as I transcend without a token of credit

they celebrate my last rites

I rehearsed through my days and nights!

Beautiful and very real. What profound imagination! The most real fact of life that we all run away from Anoop faces it and excepts it with grace and maturity. I enjoyed reading it. A very courageous song because it has the ability and strength to wait upon, organize and celebrate the end of life, which actually is the part of life. May you always live on through your lovely songs. Wishing your blog all the success dear.
